FAQ

Yes, that is certainly possible. You can drop by our warehouse located in Deurne (Antwerp) where there is currently a 5-walled yurt that you can come visit. If interested, please contact us at contact@zenyurts.be. This way we can make sure everything goes smoothly and we have enough time to answer all your questions and give advice!

Yes, the yurt is not ordered and reserved until we receive the 20% deposit. We usually ask that this be paid within 3 business days. The balance we ask to be paid on the account one week before delivery/collection.

The delivery time depends on the planned production. It is difficult to determine in advance. If you already know what you are interested in, we advise you to contact us as soon as possible at contact@zenyurts.be. We will then be happy to help you with any questions you may have regarding stock, expected delivery and any reservations you may have.

Our outside cloths (made of polycotton material) are currently available in the following colors: 1. beige without motifs / beige with dark brown motifs 2. dark green without patterns / dark green with dark brown patterns for a clearer picture, please refer to our gallery.

The white outer canvas of the yurt is a sturdy cotton impregnated canvas cloth that has limited waterproof/breathability. Since Mongolia has a steppe climate and thus it rarely rains there, this cloth is the only one used (that is served to protect against rain) and is therefore sufficient. However, this is not the case with us... Therefore, in addition to our basic kit, we offer this additional membrane for optimal protection! Our main goal is to keep our customers satisfied. We like to do that by giving our customers the freedom to let them choose what they like according to their budget. In fact, there are many types on the market, hence it is optional. The membrane we offer is very strong, waterproof, and 'UV resistant'. This membrane is made of PE and PP (synthetic but non-toxic contrary to PVC, it is very thin and light but untearable; this can be tested with us and it is recyclable) of 200 grams/m². It is also important that it is vapor permeable! PVC cloths, camionbaches etc. are not vapor permeable resulting in potentially many problems of water condensation, mold and wood rot. If used with caution, we guarantee optimal long-term use. The PE cloth is sold standard with black outside and white inside. This comes under the exterior cloth. It is delivered in rolls and can be cut and glued by the customer or we can do it (see price list for additional cost).

The basic kit of the yurt automatically includes a roof window cloth/urgh (a cloth that is pulled over the window/roof ring with two ropes) for over the roof window. Since this is not sufficient for the Belgian climate, we also offer a hard transparent UV-resistant covering (optimal for rain and the like) for an additional price. This is optional because some people find this a solution for themselves (because of their budget). For more insight on prices and photos, please see the price list and the photo album.

Of course! If a part needs to be replaced, it can always be reordered. Do not hesitate to contact us!

Our wood is made of two types of wood: the roof beams and walls are of Siberian blackwood; the door and roof ring of Siberian pine.

The yurt, like any building, does not like to be left alone for too long and will last longer if it is used, ventilated and/or heated. Other than that, there is not much to do, except maybe pick up the dirt as much as possible such as leaves on the outside fabric.

Our yurts are unfinished and pre-treatment is indeed necessary. If you wish, we can provide you with this and thus impregnate the wood (at an additional cost; see price list). The interior wood is then oiled with linseed oil, which will protect the wood from water and rot. The wood on the outside is treated with a special tung-based wood oil (oil used for boats). Please note: allow 10 extra days for drying after delivery to set up the yurt. Tip: annual oiling It is also possible to buy the products from us and process the wood yourself.

No, it does not need to be taken down annually. You just need to take good care of good air circulation then you can live in it for years without breaking it down.

The lifespan of our yurts depends on maintenance. With careful use and maintenance, the yurt can last a very long time. Our first yurt is still standing and was sold about 12 years ago... Only after x years a cloth or a door needs to be replaced.

Of course we are happy to help you set up the yurt! Do not hesitate to contact us and together we can make a planning and a cost overview. It is also possible to do it yourself. However, the first time can be a bit tricky, so we gladly recommend our help in setting up. We have the right knowledge regarding setting up a yurt and of course want your yurt experience to have a great start!

Of course we can deliver the yurt to you. For this we charge a mileage fee that we can calculate for you in a price list.

Yes, this is possible with a yurt but unfortunately we cannot provide you with this. While this can be a very nice option, it also comes with some drawbacks in that the structure in turn becomes a bit more complicated - including an increased risk of water ingress, increased heating requirements in colder temperatures, etc. ... So we are not currently responding to special requests regarding custom connections but hope to change this and offer more options in the near future.

The regulations regarding yurts vary by province and municipality. In some cases, yurts are considered non-permanent structures, and no permit is required. However, if the yurt is placed on a fixed platform, connected to utilities, installed for a long period, or used as a residence, it may be considered a permanent structure. Therefore, we recommend contacting your local city administration before purchasing to confirm whether a permit is required.
